Head of Barilla pasta says ‘We won’t include gays in our ads’
“I would never make a spot with a homosexual family. Not out of a lack of respect but because I don’t see it like they do. (My idea of) family is a classic family where the woman has a fundamental role,” said Guido Barilla, president of Barilla Pasta.
Not only does he manage to insult gay families, but he gets a pretty good potshot in there at women too.
“We have a different concept with regard to the gay family. For us, the concept of the sacred family remains a fundamental value of the company”.
Don’t gay people eat pasta?
“That’s fine if they like our pasta and our communication, they can eat them. Otherwise they can eat another pasta. You can’t always please everyone”.
Time to buy a different brand of pasta.
“As a father of multiple children, I believe it’s very hard to raise kids in a same-sex couple”.
I hope they don’t get their family values from dad.

Welp, never buying Barilla again.

Yeah, I don’t need Barilla products in my house.

Dammit, there goes our default brand of noodles. Not giving them another cent of my money.

I have a list of products I won’t buy. Annnnnd they’re going on it.

Enjoy the classic “non-apology!”

"With reference to remarks made yesterday to an Italian radio program, I apologize if my words have generated controversy or misunderstanding, or if they hurt someone’s sensitivity," Guido Barilla said in a statement. "In the interview I simply wished to underline the central role the woman plays within the family."  (source)

Ignoring the creeping, horrible sexism that’s inherent in that particular turn of phrase, another question immediately springs to mind:
Does this guy realize that women can be gay too?  Or does he think it’s just for dudes?  Are bachelors allowed to enjoy Barilla?  Widowers?  Or sans a woman to prepare and put it on a plate for him, is any male lost as to how to enjoy this delicious bounty?  Perhaps they are unfamiliar with how to dump dry pasta into a pot of boiling water and set a timer to remind themselves when to remove it.
Without a woman, how can these mysteries be unraveled?

howlingkaze asked:

starting to get into manga and anime?

Yea! I’ve always been interested in various eastern cultures (historical and pop) and thought it would be cool to try reading a manga. I’ve never been into American comics but something about the Japanese art style intrigues me. My first manga is “Deathnote” and loving it so far. I heard great reviews about it and am looking forward to watching the series once I finish the books.
